Ghaleb Daouk

Dr. Ghaleb Daouk is a consulting physician in pediatric renal diseases (nephrology) at Boston Children's Hospital and Assistant Professor, Harvard Medical School. He was born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon. He pursued his undergraduate education in Paris, France and then the US where he was graduated magna cum laude from Syracuse University. He attended the American University of Beirut (AUB) Faculty of Medicine where he pursued his laboratory research in parallel to his medical education. He subsequently continued his research in molecular biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a post-doctoral research fellow of the American Heart Association, followed by post graduate clinical training in pediatrics at the Massachusetts General Hospital {MGH)/Harvard Medical School. In the interim he co-founded a biotechnology company based on his post-doctoral research. That experience led him to MIT's Sloan School of Management where he earned an MS degree in management of technology, before continuing his clinical subspecialty training in nephrology at the MGH where he was appointed to the faculty and become the medical director of the MGH pediatric renal division.

In 2005, after working for 17 years at the MGH, he was recruited by Boston Children's Hospital to start their renal satellite program, a network that grew by 500% under his tenure for the past 21 years. Dr. Daouk is current and past member of several professional societies and author of several basic scientific and medical publications, book chapter and has one scientific discovery patent to his credit.

In addition to his clinical and academic activities at Harvard, Dr. Daouk is involved in non-profit academic and cultural organizations, as former member of the Board of trustees of the American University of Beirut (2014-2017), member of Syracuse University's College of Arts and sciences board of Visitors with over 20 years tenure, and cofounding board member of the largest Michigan-based Arab- American philanthropic and Boston-based cultural organizations. On the civic level, he maintains an active membership of the American Task Force for Lebanon (ATFL), a highly respected, Washington DC-based advocacy organization, Overseas, he is also a trustee of the Makassed philanthropic association, the largest and one of the oldest in Lebanon in the fields of health care, education, women empowerment and social welfare.

Dr. Daouk is married to Dr. Rima Kaddurah, Professor of Psychiatry at Duke University School of Medicine. Together, they live in Belmont, MA and have two adult children. Dr. Daouk is an amateur flautist, Nay player, music enthusiast and supporter of the Arabic arts and culture organizations.
